Privacy Policy

Last updated: 31 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how web3Crafters ("we", "us", "our"), the proprietorship firm behind Scruten, collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data when you use scruten.com and the services offered on it ("Service"). It is written to comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

2.1Data we collect

  • Account details – your name, email address, and phone number when you sign up or contact us.
  • Property documents – the documents you upload for review, such as sale deeds, encumbrance certificates, building plans, tax receipts, and approvals. These often contain personal data of other people, such as sellers, previous owners, and witnesses.
  • Chat content – the questions you ask and the answers the AI gives about your documents.
  • Payment details – a record of your purchase, amount, and transaction reference. Card, UPI, and bank details are collected and processed by our payment partner (Razorpay), not by us.
  • Enquiries – details you share when you email us or use the contact form on this website, which opens your own email app with the message pre-filled.
  • Technical data – your IP address, browser and device type, and pages visited, which our servers record in standard logs for security and troubleshooting.

2.2How we use your data

  • To provide the Service, including analysing your documents and answering your questions in the AI chat.
  • To process payments, issue invoices, and meet our tax and accounting obligations.
  • To respond to your enquiries and send you messages about your account or purchase.
  • To refer you to an independent advocate, but only when you ask us to.
  • To keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and misuse, and fix problems.
  • To improve the Service in ways that do not identify you.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your documents to advertise to you.

2.3Who we share it with

We share personal data only as needed to run the Service:

  • Service providers who work on our behalf, such as cloud hosting, AI processing, email, and payment providers. They may only use your data to provide their services to us.
  • An independent advocate, only if you ask us for a referral and agree to share your documents with them.
  • Government authorities or courts, where we are required to by law or a valid legal order.

Some of our service providers may store or process data outside India. Where they do, we take reasonable steps to make sure your data stays protected, and we follow any restrictions set by the Government of India.

2.4How long we keep it

  • We keep your account details and documents for as long as your account is active, or as long as needed to provide the Service.
  • When you ask us to delete your data, or it is no longer needed, we delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it longer — for example, payment and invoice records needed for tax purposes.
  • Server logs are kept for a limited period for security purposes and then deleted.

2.5Your rights

Under Indian data protection law, you can:

  • Ask what personal data we hold about you and how we use it.
  • Ask us to correct, complete, or update your data.
  • Ask us to delete your data, or withdraw your consent to us using it. This may mean we can no longer provide the Service to you.
  • Nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity.
  • Raise a complaint with us, and if you are not satisfied with our response, with the Data Protection Board of India.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@scruten.com. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.

2.6Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and restricted access to stored documents. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal data, we will inform you and the authorities as required by law.

2.7Cookies

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. The Scruten app may use essential cookies or similar storage to keep you signed in and to keep the Service secure.

2.8Children

The Service is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has shared data with us, contact us and we will delete it.

2.9Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If a change significantly affects how we use your data, we will tell you by email before it applies.

2.10Contact and grievances

For any question, request, or complaint about your personal data, contact us. We aim to respond within 30 days.
